Astonishing Sweet That Will Quickly Help Your Diabetes

As fruits pack a lot of sugar, most practitioners will warn against having too much.

The key to maintaining blood sugar is to use portion control especially with anything that is high in sugar. This is particularly true if you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or type-2 diabetes.

However, not all fruits are created equal. In fact, one fruit does an excellent job at keeping your blood sugar levels at bay according to recent research by the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Twenty-one obese & overweight individuals diagnosed with pre-diabetes and eleven metabolically healthy individuals were recruited for the study which was published in the journal Obesity.

Three kinds of breakfasts were tested by researchers:

  • a meal set with 2 cups of red raspberries
  • a meal set with one cup of red raspberries
  • and a meal set without red raspberries at all

Researchers had rotated the subjects to make sure that each would have eaten all three types of breakfasts by the end of the study.

It is crucial to note that all three breakfasts were uniformly high in carbohydrates and moderate in fat, and contained the same amount of calories and macronutrients.

In Summary

Research findings showed lower insulin and blood glucose levels in subjects that ate more red raspberries for breakfast.

Subjects who had two cups of red raspberries significantly brought their peak insulin, peak glucose, and glucose average levels down only two hours after breakfast (compared to those who did not eat raspberries for breakfast that day).

In subjects who had one or two cups of red raspberries, it was found that their average insulin levels had lowered significantly only two hours after breakfast (compared to those who ate no raspberries at all).

But eating red raspberries is not enough to lower blood sugar levels, blood lipid levels, improve insulin response and reduce blood pressure.
